Governor Culver approved spending $844.4 million for education on Iowa's children and older students when he signed Senate File 2376, the education budget bill, into law. The bill appropriates general fund money to the Departments of Education, community colleges, regents' institutions and the Iowa College Student Aid Committion. |

Governor Signs Campaign Finance Disclosure Bill -  |

April 8 -- The bill, SF 2343, was introduced in response to the U.S. Supreme Court "Citizens United" ruling that legalized independent expenditures on elections by corporations and labor unions. The new Iowa law aims to regulate the consequences of the Supreme Court decision in order to ensure proper disclosure of campaign spending. |
